Dr. Thomas L. Petty Memorial Fund
FAREWELL TO OUR DEAR
FRIEND & MENTOR
DR. THOMAS L. PETTY, MD
December 24, 1932 – December 12, 2009
Dr. Tom dedicated his life to improving the quality of life for respiratory patients. His own need for supplementary oxygen afforded him a unique insight that has touched the lives and welfare of patients throughout the world. His legacy and dedication to all patients will live on in the annual Thomas L. Petty Moving Mountains COPD Conference and in the body of his published works.
Dr. Tom’s memorial service was a fitting tribute to a great physician and a beautiful human being. The service centered around his faith in God and service to his fellow man; Tom was an avid fisherman and the printed program featured the following:
THE FISHERMAN’S PRAYER
God grant that I may fish
Until my dying day;
And when it comes to my last cast
I then most humbly pray,
When in the Lord’s safe landing net
I’m peacefully asleep,
That in His mercy I may be judged
Good enough to keep.
Tom’s journey is over and everyone one of us is a better person for having known him and benefited from his life’s work.
Dr. Petty’s vision led to the creation of the Thomas L. Petty Moving Mountains Lung Health Conference—Please make out any donations in Dr. Petty’s name to the Colorado Lung Health Connection and send to:
